Cat Wave Furoshiki
Cat Wave Furoshiki
Cats playing in a traditional Japanese seigaiha wave pattern. A traditional part of the Japanese way of life, furoshiki are squares of fabric used for carrying, storing and wrapping things. They can be used to wrap gifts, transport groceries, or even as a fashion accessory.
The practice of wrapping objects in Japan traces back to the Nara period (710 to 794) – during this time, the cloth that an object was wrapped in was referred to as tsutsumi, meaning “package” or “present.” The wrapping cloths are now known as furoshiki.
