Sakanoshita Slope, viewed from a Japanese tea house, was such a stunning site that one painter threw his brush off the cliff and gave up painting because he couldn't do it justice. Thankfully the Japanese master artist Hiroshige didn't do this and many of his prints, like this one, are still with us. Manet and Monet collected his work to study it and Van Gogh even painted copies of two of his prints!
