Calavera, considered the "mischievous dead", is one of the most beloved symbols of Dia de los Muertos, (Day of the Dead).  But, these vibrant and ornate bones are not presented to terrorize. Instead,  they represent the playfulness of the dead, as they mimic the living and frolic amongst us... reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously.
